St. Paul, MN— Miller Architects is excited to announce the completion of the Sunlight Services LLC expansion project. In response to the demand for elderly housing within the Hmong community in St. Paul, 30 new units were added to the property. Already reaching full occupancy in 2018 with the development of 28 new units, this latest addition reflects the dedication to addressing the growing housing need in the St. Paul Hmong community.
The City of St. Paul granted a Conditional Use Permit for this project, allowing for the construction of a 12,352-square-foot addition, bringing the total number of units to 54. The new addition was built based on a two-story design of the existing structure, featuring a dedicated wing with 12 units for residents with memory care needs. This wing will include an entrance, dining and living areas, and a secure, fenced-in exterior patio to ensure the safety and well-being of the residents.
The rest of the addition will house the remaining units, along with a large activities area where residents can take part in crafts, watch movies, and participate in other recreational activities. This expansion also includes additional nursing space, new offices, laundry facilities, a family conference room, a beauty shop, and expanded kitchen storage. All new resident rooms will have a private bathroom and shower for resident comfort and privacy.
