Miller Architects & Builders Break Ground at Knollcrest Funeral Home – Steuerle Chapel

Miller Knollcrest Funeral Home

Villa Park, IL — Miller Architects and Builders is thrilled to announce its partnership with Robert (Bob) Van Staalduinen, the founder and owner of Knollcrest Funeral Home in Lombard, for the groundbreaking of a new facility, the Knollcrest Steuerle Chapel, located on the site of the original Steuerle Chapel in Villa Park.

To ensure this new facility is designed and equipped to serve the community, Miller Architects & Builders reviewed the site and after final evaluation, they determined that the construction of a new building would be the most effective solution. The new Knollcrest Steuerle Chapel will feature a modern two-story design encompassing 14,270 square feet. Key features of the new chapel will include a grand two-story lobby with a beautiful stairway and an elevator for easy access to both levels. The first floor will feature a dividable chapel, which can accommodate two simultaneous visits and seat 175 people. A family lounge with warm natural light, a gas fireplace— and a retail space for commemorative products will also be included on the first floor. Essential amenities will include a floral delivery room, a staging area for refreshments, public restrooms, and a two-stall garage. The second floor will house employee offices, spaces for arrangement, a casket display room, a preparation room, as well as an apartment for staff. Construction is set to begin in the summer of 2024, with the grand opening planned for summer 2025.
