Hutchinson, MN— Miller Architects is excited to partner with Immanuel Lutheran Church and Grace Lutheran Church to complete a new facility for its Immanuel Grace Lutheran school and preschool. In 2007, the churches formed an association to jointly operate the school and preschool, which have been housed in a converted residence near Immanuel Lutheran Church. However, as community needs and enrollment increased, it became clear more space was needed to better serve the school’s students and staff. After a thorough evaluation and analysis, it was decided to build a new school on an adjacent 8-acre lot owned by Immanuel Lutheran Church, allowing the school to expand while remaining close to its original location.

The new facility, which began construction in April 2023, is set to cover 12,338 square feet and offer a range of amenities. The one-story structure includes six classrooms along with a dedicated preschool room and a conference room, which will double as a storm shelter and provide space for meetings and emergencies. The building features a large commons area that will serve as both a lunchroom and a central gathering space for students. Adjacent to this space, a fully-equipped kitchen will support meal preparation for the school. In addition to classrooms and common areas, the new facility includes staff offices, storage, and workspaces—a parking lot with a capacity for 47 vehicles and designated drop-off and pick-up zones for buses.
